We are currently looking for an additional team member to work with us on a temporary contract for four months (with the possibility of an extension).

The role

The role has arisen due to expanding year-end work whilst two of our experienced consultants are on maternity leave.

Many of our clients rely on us for all their actuarial work, so you will be involved in a wide range of actuarial projects, as well as supporting our clients in their business decisions. Your work is likely to be focused on annual valuations, bonus recommendations and audit work. Whilst the firm’s work is largely life-insurance based, you may also have opportunities to work in health and general insurance.

Key responsibilities

You will be a key resource for the consultant in charge of each of your engagements by performing many detailed aspects of the client work. Your responsibilities will include:

  • validating, reconciling and analysing data
  • completing investigations into experience for our clients
  • drawing conclusions from analysis and investigations
  • customising our model office and valuation software for clients by setting up, amending and running models
  • working with the more senior staff to communicate findings
  • proactively looking for ways to improve the processes and implementing changes

We work as a team and you will have support from existing team members.

Skills, knowledge and experience required

You will be a part-qualified actuarial student or newly qualified actuary with a minimum of three years of experience in life or health insurance actuarial work, preferably more. You must have strong communication and organisational skills, be confident using Excel and have knowledge of actuarial reporting and with-profits business.

You must be able to work in a team to deliver high standards and meet strict deadlines. You will be expected to have an inquisitive nature and be able to solve problems that you have not met before.

Benefits

The salary is £30k-£60k per annum, full time equivalent, depending on experience and level of qualification. We offer flexible working hours.

Location

We operate from Epsom but we service clients throughout the UK and beyond and you may occasionally be expected to travel to meetings with clients throughout the UK.
